ENHANCEMENT OF JOURNAL ARTICLE PUBLICATIONS OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS FROM V4 REGIONGrant agreement number: 11540055
Project duration: 04.2016 – 09.2016 Coordinator:
Budapest University of Technology and Economics Department of Electronics Technology H-1111, Egry József u. 18., Budapest, Hungary https://www.ett.bme.hu Project descriptionVINmes (Visegrad Network for Microelectronics Engineering Scientists) enhances the cooperation between the universities and institutes in the V4 region and connects the conferences and journals in the field of microelectronics engineering leading for the successful publication of the conference special issues. The purposes of the project is to help the first journal publications of young scientist form V4 region who are researching in microelectronics technology. It is usually a hard task to publish the first journal articles by young scientists, but journal articles are usually mandatory for PhD degree or grants. A lot of young scientists cannot step over this obstacle, so this is one of the main reasons of their PhD studies failure. The aim of the project is to organize a special issue in the journal of Periodica Polytechnica Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (PPEE) targeting young scientists form V4 region, development of specialized reviewing procedure according to the demands of young scientists and increasing the rank of PPEE to leader journal for young scientist publications.
Young scientists have lower experiences in scientific communication and especially in the field of applied sciences. It is usually hard for them to find the novelty of their results. The goal of the project is to help in the first journal publications of young scientist form V4 with the following actions.
"Visegrad feature" of the projectThe publishing of research results in serious journals is crucial for scientist development. The publishing of special issue in PPEE journal, including the articles written by the scientists mainly from V4 countries, will increase the journal readability, as well as its position in the journal ranking because of the possibility of the impact factor (IF) reaching. IF is the most important indicator of journal rank on the international scene. Unfortunately, the amount of the IF journals, which are published in Central Europe is still relatively small as compared to rest of the Europe. The project realization, from one side will serve the development of young scientists and from the other side will serve the V4 region with establishing a high ranked journal which is published in V4 region.
The Visegrad network for microelectronics engineering scientists (VINMES) will be used to enhance the cooperation between the universities and institutes in the V4 region which works in the field of microelectronics and electronics technology. The main action of the project, the special issue in the journal of Periodica Polytechnica Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for young scientist form V4 region is planned to be organized in the future annually. The developed methods (the specialized reviewing procedure and the "Guide for Authors" for young scientists) with the stronger support for the young scientists during the publication process will be used in the further development of journal of PPEE.
